OUR HUB &
SPOKE MODEL

Designed by Nature. Rooted in the Fynbos.

At Wild & Wise Earth Trust, our work is inspired by how nature regenerates itself — in cycles, connections, and cooperation.
Our Hub-and-Spoke system mirrors the fynbos biome: diverse, adaptive, and resilient.
Each Hub serves as a living classroom, an economic engine, and an ecological anchor that helps entire landscapes recover.

The Hub-and-Spoke Model

The Hub — Heart of Regeneration

Our Hubs are the heartbeat of the Trust: community-based centres where restoration, learning, and enterprise meet.

Each Hub includes:

  • 🌱 Indigenous Plant Nursery – Propagating up to 200,000 seedlings per year for restoration and sale.

  • 🔥 Small-Scale Oil Distillery – Processing sustainably harvested fynbos into essential oils, teas, and extracts.

  • 🫖 Wild & Wise Fynbos Tea Garden – A visitor and education hub that connects people to the land through taste, story, and experience.

  • 👩🏽‍🏫 Training & Community Centre – Equipping youth and local cooperatives with green skills for restoration, tourism, and enterprise.

Each Hub restores around 40 hectares of degraded land per year and supports 65–100 livelihoods — from horticulturists to artisans, educators, and field stewards.

We’re growing more than plants — we’re growing belonging.

The Spokes — Networks of Renewal

Radiating from each Hub are the Spokes:
local restoration sites managed by communities, designed to reconnect ecosystems and livelihoods.

Each Spoke focuses on:

  • 🌿 Fynbos Corridor Restoration – Replanting indigenous species to create continuous ecological networks.

  • 💧 Waterway Protection – Reviving rivers, wetlands, and aquifers that sustain life in the Cape.

  • 🐝 Pollinator Habitat Revival – Rewilding landscapes to support bees, birds, and endemic wildlife.

  • 🔥 Fire-Wise Management – Reintroducing traditional fire cycles that renew the land safely and naturally.

  • 🌾 Sustainable Harvesting & Micro-Enterprise – Training harvesters to manage wild fynbos ethically and sell high-quality botanicals through our circular economy.

Each Spoke is community-managed, with profits and decision-making shared locally.
